ICS to Host Open House Featuring New Flipped Classrooms
Instructional Communications Systems is hosting a spring open house at The Pyle Center in Madison, on April 22, 2014, 3:00–6:00 p.m. ICS will offer tours of its new collaborative, hybrid learning spaces—also known as “flipped classrooms”—as well as other rejuvenated spaces. Featured speaker Dr. Aaron Brower, UW-Extension/UW Colleges Interim Chancellor, will present “Educational Innovations in Hybrid Classroom Learning.”
Flipped classrooms are receiving attention in the education community for their innovative learner-centered design. The model reverses the typical lecture and “homework” elements of a course—students watch online video lectures outside of class and in-class time is spent solving problems or creating content together. The concept is a perfect fit for ICS, a leader in instructional design and digital media for virtual conferences, distance learning, professional development and more.
Attendees of the open house can expect a valuable learning opportunity, food, prizes and live music. Dr. Brower’s presentation will be webcast live for those unable to attend.
